The new Greater Bay Airlines uniform was unveiled even before the airline started operating. The turquoise design immediately sparked discussion among aviation enthusiasts, with some comparing it to hospital uniforms and delivery services. In this article, I take a closer look at the collection.

Greater Bay Airlines uniform design

The new set of uniforms comprises three versions: a dress, a pencil skirt with a blouse, and the latter combined with a jacket. The outfits are mainly turquoise and worn with a colored scarf. But the turquoise color is not going down well with a lot of people and being compared to those of nurses in a hospital. The color is also very reminiscent of delivery service Deliveroo.

Why the Greater Bay Airlines uniform looks familiar

Of course, there’s no accounting for taste. And when you launch a new uniform, there will always be people who appreciate it and those who don’t. The color is not even unusual in this industry. Irish airline Aer Lingus has been using turquoise and other shades of green in their uniforms for years.

Previously, the flight attendants were dressed head to toe in this color, but nowadays, they go for a slightly more modest look. In 2021, they combine turquoise with dark blue and black, which gives the whole outfit a more chic appearance.

I am not a fan of turquoise as the main colour for an airline uniform. I prefer warm tones combined with black or dark blue. Still, I appreciate that Greater Bay Airlines chose a distinctive look instead of another standard navy suit. Whether passengers love it or not, the uniform certainly stands out.
