Temperatures are currently very high and one of the most frequently asked questions I get is what the best thing to wear to work is. People want to look put together but not stuffy. Time for an article with 5 tips on how to look airy and presentable.
1. Grooming
What I notice with looking presentable is people immediately think of clothes. And for looking put together clothing is important, but there is more. I am referring to grooming and personal care. When the temperature rises we opt for light clothes so more skin is visible. The chance of body odor being noticeable increases, and we also see parts of the body that are hidden away during the winter. Think bare arms, legs, and feet. Besides using a good deodorant, it is important to pay a little more attention to your body. For example, plan an evening dedicated to taking care of your feet, and any other dry or irritated spots on your skin.
2. Cosmetics
In addition to general grooming, summer is also a good time for those of us who wear make-up to try a different shade of eyeshadow or a bright shade of lipstick. Make-up is a great tool to ensure that you are looking well-groomed. It gives your appearance a little pop, especially when dressing more casually. It immediately elevates a sleeveless dress to business-appropriate.
3. Accessories
As with grooming, the use of accessories is the ideal way to complete your outfit. A beautiful necklace can work wonders, especially with tops with a lower neckline. A necklace covers a piece of your skin without adding layers of fabric. You can do the same trick with bracelets and long earrings. It’s an elegant way to look dressed up extra without adding layers and heat.
4. Updo
Do you have long hair? You probably like to wear it up in tropical temperatures. Try doing something different with your hair for work, for example, a beautiful bun or business-appropriate braids. Putting effort into your hairstyle takes the focus away from your bare arms and legs. Your colleagues and customers are more likely to focus on your updo. Pair it with a pair of pretty earrings and you’ve instantly upgraded your outfit.
5. Fabrics and Prints
Worried about sweat stains? Then pay close attention to the fabrics you wear. With solid colors in 100% cotton, chances are you’ll see them. It is better to choose fabrics with a pattern. If you still want to wear a solid color, look for items of clothing made from travel fabrics. These fabrics do not wrinkle, are elastic, feel airy and light, and limit the chance of perspiration stains.
