Summer business attire is hard to get right. I previously wrote an article on this topic. When it’s warm, you perspire faster, making it a challenge to stay looking presentable. So what should you pay attention to when choosing presentable shirts for summer? In this article, I share some tips!

Prints or solid colors

  • In summer you are better off choosing shirts with a pattern over solid colors. The heat makes you perspire faster and moisture spots are more visible on solid colors. Whereas patterned shirts help disguise any stains.

  • Pick colors and patterns that are not too similar. If you wear a top with, for example, a floral print in only pink tones, perspiration is still visible. In the photo above you can see Danny, my husband, in one of his favorite summer shirts. This is his shirt of choice for when he drives to work in hot weather, he likes it because he arrives at his destination looking cool and fresh. A little deodorant is all he needs.

  • Chances are you will not wear a T-shirt under your shirt in the summer. But if you do, a model with a pattern works well. Because of the pattern, your underwear is not as visible.

  • Still want to wear a solid color? Avoid pastel shades, moisture is quickly visible on these. Instead go for a black or white shirt with short sleeves. Check that your white shirts are still bright. White is beautiful but can look grey or washed out after a few washes.

Model and size

  • When buying a shirt, it is always important to buy the right size. Sure, that may sound obvious. But in the hot summer months this is even more important. Are you unsure about a size? Then go larger rather than smaller. The heat can make your body swell a bit and perspiration makes you feel sticky. Tight shirts can feel uncomfortable in warm weather.

  • With this information in mind, I also recommend that you opt for straight models. The more tailored the shirt, the tighter it fits. A straight model gives your body a little more room to move and breathe.

What do you pay attention to when buying a shirt for summer?

Greetings,

Aileen
