Zeeman doesn’t want to simply throw away their old uniforms and deposit bags. Instead, the Dutch retail chain has partnered with Oxious Talent Factory, a clothing workshop. This collaboration has resulted in a unique festival clothing collection. In this article, I’ll show you the items and tell you all about them.

The collection consists of 10 different accessories and clothing items, all made at the Oxious Talent Factory, where people with employment barriers are given the opportunity to work. This Rotterdam-based workshop operates with the mission to reduce textile waste.

This initiative is a great match for Zeeman, who has been working on recycling projects with various partners for years. Although more and more retailers are engaging in such practices, Zeeman stands out this time with a truly unique collection. While other companies often opt for recycling by creating bags or using fabrics for upholstery and insulation, Zeeman has chosen to launch a festival collection.

The collection is not only eye-catching but also very fashionable and practical. For example, there are two festival blankets that can be easily rolled up into a small bag. The fanny packs are also incredibly practical for festival-goers who want to keep their hands free.

When it comes to clothing, Zeeman has tapped into trends popular among the youth. There are crop tops and jackets that leave room for a bare midriff—a style that’s currently prevalent in many stores. Finally, there’s a basic, unisex vest with a chest pocket, cleverly capitalizing on the gender-neutral trend that’s being widely embraced by the younger generation.

Zeeman is doing a great job

Although I’m not a festival-goer myself and therefore not the target audience, I have to say this is an excellent collection. The retail chain scores on three fronts. First, by partnering with a local, social workplace, they not only support the Dutch economy but also provide opportunities for people who typically have a harder time finding employment.

Additionally, they manage to stand out by thinking outside the box, and of course, this is a fantastic way to reduce the pile of textile waste.

Curious? You can admire and order all the items in the webshop.

Best regards,

Aileen
