New Air Dolomiti uniform: why the airline chose blue

Air Dolomiti has launched a new uniform for its cabin crew. To mark its 35th anniversary, the Italian airline decided to introduce a new design, including a new colour combination. In this article, I will show you the old and new uniforms and tell you all about them.

Air Dolomiti uniform from 2015

The current clothing package mainly consists of classic grey suits with bright blue details. The colour, which refers to the airline’s logo, is subtly incorporated into the check pattern of the suit and used as piping on the women’s blazer. The collection was designed by Italian fashion designer Laura Strambi.

New Air Dolomiti uniform

From August 2026, the cabin crew will wear a new clothing package. And it certainly looks quite different. The subtle grey suit has been replaced by a navy blue uniform with gold details. For the design, Air Dolomiti collaborated with Antonio Pitagora. The Italian stylist has worked for brands including Fendi, Valentino and Dolce & Gabbana.

The airline deliberately chose a dark blue colour because it better matches the image of the Lufthansa Group, of which Air Dolomiti is part. Coincidentally, Lufthansa itself also recently launched a new uniform, and it too opted for a classic dark blue design.

According to the company, it chose high quality materials such as merino wool and cotton. The materials needed to be comfortable, elegant, sustainable and practical. In addition to trousers and a skirt, women can now also choose a dress.

Classic uniform with an Italian touch

Although dark blue suits are a common sight in the aviation industry, I can still see that Air Dolomiti has given the design its own twist. For example, the gold coloured print on the women’s scarf strongly resembles the style of the iconic Italian fashion house Versace. But precisely because the busy print is combined with a timeless suit, the overall look remains professional. The gold details also appear on the buttons, buckles and tie clips.

And the turquoise details that previously dominated the grey suit have now moved into the background. You can still see them subtly in the scarf and in occasional piping, but the dark blue suits with white shirts take centre stage. And that makes the overall collection, despite the standard blue suit, a successful clothing package in my opinion.
