KLM organises a uniform fashion show in the sky

Passengers on a flight between Amsterdam Schiphol and New York recently experienced something very unique. In honor of KLM’s 100th anniversary, a fashion show was organised on board of the airplane. The flight attendants showed uniforms worn by crew members between 1957 and now.

Passengers on this flight had not been informed about this beforehand, so it was a very big surprise. I would have loved to be there as well. Luckily, several pictures and videos were taken during this exclusive fashion show. It’s time to share them with you!

Biggest collector in the world

The idea for this fashion show came from Cliff Muskiet. Besides being a purser, he is the biggest collector of flight attendant uniforms in the world. He now has 1577 uniforms, coming from 563 different airlines.

He is immensely proud of the fact that this could be organised. “At some point, the voice of our senior purser sounded through the aircraft’s cabin. He also works for the radio and has the perfect voice to lead the models and to tell the passengers about the history of the uniforms. Of course, the safety of everyone on board was our top priority during the entire event.”

Muskiet admits that this was not an easy project: “Changing clothes and applying make-up on board was quite challenging, because there is not a lot of room. But that actually went very well.”

Well KLM, if you would ever organise a fashion show like this again, I’d be very interested in a front row seat. I mean, aisle seat.

Greetings,

Aileen
